In a few weeks the largest Delft blue vases in the world coming to Paauw the delft blue factory!

The largest Delft blue vases in the world will arrive in the Netherlands On 13 December We will celebrate that extensively with a fun party week full of special activities. Will you join?

Heinen Delft Blue has made the largest Delft blue vases in the world and this will be celebrated with a big party! The two giant vases are made entirely by hand and painted by hand by our master painter. The vases were presented to a small audience at the International Ceramics Fair in the porcelain city of Jingdezhen in China for the first time. They were then carefully packed and are currently on the way to the Netherlands by ship. The vases arrive at our Delft blue pottery factory PAAUW in Delft, where they are welcomed in a big way and you can be there!

After the festive reception, we kick off a special festive week in Delft, with fun activities such as special Delft Blue Painting workshops on the theme of the Golden Age, unique boat trips along historic Delft by VOC ship, a pleasant children's afternoon on a VOC ship and a free valuation day with none other than Robert Aronson, known from the television program Tussen Kunst & Kitsch. Pack your Delft blue objects from home and come to Delft! Who knows, you might go home with a valuable treasure ...

Information about all activities can be found on our website www.degrootstedelftsblauwevazen.nl. The festive week starts with the reception on Friday 13 December at 15:30 at PAAUW and lasts until Thursday 19 December.

Making a vase

The pottery is made with plaster of Paris moulds. The clay is mixed and poured into a mould. As the plaster of Paris absorbs the water out of the clay, the clay starts drying and a thin clay wall forms itself. When the claywall has reached 4 mm the remaing clay is poured out. A hollow vase is the result!

About 60 years ago the pottery moved from the town centre to
this more than 100 year old building on the border of Delft and Rijswijk.
